2026-27 Lightning Team Tryouts

The St. Lawrence Lightning tryouts for our JUEL and JUEL Prep teams will be held at Queen's University, Gym 3 (Bartlett) on Thursday, August 20 and Monday, August 24, 2026.

About

The St. Lawrence Lightning participate in the Junior Elite League of Ontario (JUEL). The season runs from mid November (once the girls high school basketball season is over) until mid May. The Championship tournament is scheduled May 14-16 at Queen's University, in Kingston.

The season will consist of approximately 100 hours of practice and 30 games.

Team fees won't be confirmed until the JUEL and our overall season schedule is finalized, however, athletes can expect fees to be in the $1600 - $2000 range.

Once the season gets going, team practices will take place in both Brockville and Kingston.

Ages

Tryouts are open to any female player born in the follow age groups:

• JUEL Prep (U16) - Born in 2011-2013

• JUEL (U19) - Born in 2008-2010

Registration

All players must register online prior to attending a tryout and being considered for a team.

The registration fee is $40. This will includeall tryout sessions. The fee can be paid online via credit card or e-transferred to admin@stlawrencelightning.ca. If you e-transfer, please ensure the name of your athlete is included in the transfer message.

If you are injured or unable to tryout for the team due to scheduling conflicts but are interested in being considered, please register and pay the fee, then contact admin@stlawrencelightning.ca to inform us of your circumstances.

All gym access in ARC South needs to go through Lower Level 1 Q Services desk.

• Gym 3 – Bartlett - is located on Level 2. (Mitchell Hall basement).

Suggested routes:

• FROM DIVISION/CLERGY STREETS. 

  • Walk West down alleyway named “athletes walk”, enter Mitchell Hall doors (Look for large Q sign), turn right and take stairs down one floor. Check in at the Q Services desk for further directions.

• FROM ARC NORTH/EARL STREET ENTRANCE.

  • Walk through Queen’s Centre and exit south doors (Past DrugSmart and food court), turn left and walk East down alleyway named “athletes walk”, enter Mitchell Hall doors (Look for large Q sign), turn right and take stairs down one floor. Check in at the Q Services desk for further directions.

• FROM UNION STREET.

  • Walk through Mitchell Hall atrium towards Large Q sign (past Starbucks and big red stairs), take the red stairwell left of the glass doors down one floor. Check in at the Q Services desk for further directions.
